After conducting his own community poll (1,700 respondents), Nelson City

Councillor Mel Courtney is lodging a notice of motion to council, asking that

council officers review the route and design of the new Princes Drive extension

including the proposed traffic lights that intersect with Waimea Road.

The views of the Nelson community were not sought prior to the resource

consent being granted in February 2016 because the installation of traffic lights

on Waimea Road were considered “not to be of significance”.
