COUNCIL RATES - WE MUST DO BETTER

Melanie Jenkins thank you for sharing with me your deep concern with the latest rates rise of 4.2% & the fact that it's almost triple the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 1.5 %. Melanie I agree with you, these relentless rates increases are unsustainable especially
for people on fixed incomes & wage/salary earners like yourself whose incomes are not keeping pace with rates increases.
NCC needs to better control its costs & spending. Major projects should be properly costed & tightly managed.
The good news is the Productivity Commission is conducting an inquiry into Local Government funding & finances & I hope above hope that an alternative source/method of funding for local councils will be found.
